What exactly is 3DP technology?

3DP Technology Process
The 3DP process is similar to the SLS process by forming powder materials such as ceramic powders and metal powders. The difference is that the material powder is not connected by sintering, but by the use of an adhesive (such as silica gel) through the nozzle, the cross section of the component is printed on the material powder. Adhesive bonded parts are of lower strength and must be treated later.
Its Detailed Work Principle is:
1.3DP feed the same way as SLS, feeding the powder through the horizontal roller flat on the printing platform;
2.Transport the colored glue to the print head by pressing it;
3.The next print like inkjet printer 2D, firstly the system according to the three-dimensional model of color color glue mixing and selective spray powder in the plane, with glue after bonding powder for solid;
4.After a layer of bonding is finished, the printing platform is lowered, and the horizontal pressure bar is used to smooth the powder again, and then the adhesive layer of the new layer is added, so that the layers are printed repeatedly, until the whole model is bonded;
5.After the printing is finished, the non caking powder is recovered, the powder on the surface of the model is blown off, and the model is soaked with transparent glue again, so the model has a certain strength.
Note: The place where the adhesive has not been sprayed is dry powder, which plays a supporting role in the forming process and is easy to remove after forming.
Advantages of 3DP Technology
1.High cost components such as lasers are not required. The cost is low, easy to operate and easy to maintain.
2.Fast processing, can be 25 millimeters / hour vertical construction speed print model.
3.Print color prototypes. This is the biggest advantage of this technology, it prints the color prototype, without the need for later color, the current 3D experience in the market, 3D print portrait of the basic adoption of this technology.
4.There is no support structure. Like SLS, the powder supports the dangling parts and, after printing, the powder can be recycled, environmentally friendly and cost saving.
5.The cost of materials and molding materials is relatively cheap, and the cost of printing is low.
Disadvantages of 3DP Technology
1.Gypsum strength is low, can not do functional materials. And print finished fragile.
2.The surface feels a little rough, which is the disadvantage of the powder forming process.

At present, 3DP technology has been widely used in teaching, modeling, creativity and medical field.
